A selection of some of the belt buckles with Old West and other themes made infamous by the J. Duncan Campbell book New Buckles of the Old West in the 1970s. These buckles were made in the late 1960s (the makers unknown) and purported to be "genuine" by a book titled Tiffany & Gaylord Express & Exhibition Belt Plates by "Percy Seibert". Duncan completely exposed the buckles as complete fantasies.

While the buckles are not period to any time prior to 1965, they are interesting in their own way. As Campbell says on page XVI of the introduction to his expose, "If you like them, buy them. The final decision is yours alone, but you should be fully aware of what you will get for your money."

We have some photocopies of Campbells book available, with "the rest of the story", which shows these and many other variants of these buckles.
