USAAF Gilt on Silver Flight Dentist Pilot Wing 3-1/4 Inch Badge

This is a nice example of the 3-1/4 inch Observer pilot wing with applied dental caduceus with brown enamel "D" center. It has an NS MEYER maker mark and a very worn silver content mark.

WWII period GILT Dental pilot wings are VERY difficult to find. It is in near excellent condition, however, the gilt was polished off to comply with regulations disallowing gold wings in the Army. Traces of the gilt remain.
