The blade is etched with a combat scene of an MG08 machine gun crew, an antitank artillery crew, and a panzer tank. The scroll is Zur Erinnerung an Meine Dienstzeit [In remembrance of my wartime service]) The reverse side of the blade is plain and unmarked. The red felt insert and leather buffer are in near mint intact condition.

There is some minor wear to the paint on the scabbard. There is wear to the paint of the scabbard. The F. W. HÖLLER SOLINGEN maker marked blade is near mint throughout.

The blade is maker marked "ffc" (Friedrich Abr. Herder und Sohn, Solingen) and dated "44" and the scabbard maker marked "44ffc". It is dated "1936 and serial numbered"3086" on the blade (visible in the image of the right side of the grip, below) and scabbard. Both sides of the blade are otherwise plain. The WaA Waffenamt proof marks are present on the top of the pommel. The tip of the drag of the scabbard is also marked. The left side is as shown. The right and left sides of the grips.

The blade is dated "43" and maker marked "fnj" (Alexander Coppel, GmbH (aka ALCOSO), Solingen)Both sides of the blade are otherwise plain.  The scabbard is maker marked "cof" (Carl Eickhorn Waffenfabrik, Solingen)dated "42". It is serial numbered "9459 O" on the other side. The proof mark is present on the top of the pommel partially hidden by the top strap. The tip of the drag of the scabbard is also marked. This is the grip in close-up front and rear.

There is some routine wear to the anodized finish on the marked and numbered scabbard. The blade and bayonet proper is in serviceable throughout.

This bayonet has seen combat use, with heavy wear to the original finish present on the blade and scabbard. The screws on the wood grips appear to have never been moved.

The blade measures 9-3/4 inches. It measures 15 inches overall.

The blade is maker marked WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER A.G. OBENDORF a.N. and the scabbard is devoid of any markings of any kind. This is the grip in close-up front and rear. There are some heavily worn inspection/proof marks on the guard.

The condition is used and serviceable throughout.

There is some very minor spotting.  The edges are factory ground and never appear to have been sharpened.

This is a view of the rear. There are minor to moderate signs of wear to the original finish, however the design is still sharp and clear. Each measures 1 inch wide by 2-3/4 inches high.

The grips are in near very good used condition overall.

There is no maker mark. There are routine signs of wear throughout.  The there are significant dents at the front and rear from when it got pinched.  The dents do not impair proper function.

The scabbard is in good to used condition overall, with signs of routine use and wear present.

There is an Eickhorn Solingen maker mark and GES. GESCH. with national eagle emblem deeply etched into the ricasso on one side and a serial number "8809" more lightly etched on the reverse. There are moderate signs of wear and some rusting apparent in the images.  The guard had the eagle "de-nazified" by removing the swastika.  The end of the tang is pinned with the original pin.  The original leather buffer is present.

The blade has never been sharpened outside of the factory, it retains all of its original contours.  The point is in very good condition.  There are some slight dings on the upper flat surface from when it was used to pound something when it was intact as a dagger.

This fairly scarce blade is in good to near very good used condition overall.
