Göring: Reichsjägermeister Correspondence

These are a number of letters sent to Göring  for hunts in East Prussia and Carinhall in the Schorfheide (about 40 miles northeast of Berlin) during the 1938 hunting season. Letters cover the period from August 1938 to November 1939. There is one letter dated in January 1939. Most refer to Goring as Reichsforstmeister or Reichsjägermeister. and have purely hunt related content and the usual greetings and salutations. The majority of the letters are from high-ranking officials and military men Goring chose to accompany him on hunts for rutting deer, red deer, and Prussian elk.

Most are completely handwritten on letterhead, there are some that were typed, or sent via telegram. Each letter is described more fully in the individual listings. Virtually all of them have Min. Präs. Generalfeldmarschall Göring's routing stamps indicating receipt and/or reply sent. Most all of them are initialed (some signed) by Göring's SS liaison and Assistant, Oberjägermeister Peter Menthe. Many are also initialed by Göring.
