Italian Militaria

This is an early Italian "General of Division" gold bullion bandolier and patch box in the original round box, circa mid-19th century.

This is a very heavy cloth of gold on black velvet covered chest strap and bandolier with devices for a General grade officer of the Italian Carabinieri. It is shown in the case here. A view from the side is here.

The device on the patch box is an eagle and crown, predating the fascist era. The entwined VE device is gold on silver shield with the two chained arrows, as shown here.

The condition is used. There are some scuffs on the patch box (it needs polish). There is some wear to the velvet of the patch box and some tarnish from age. The bandolier has some minor wrinkles from years of storage in the original box. The exterior of the round box and cover show routine storage wear and signs of handling. It is in overall very good serviceable original condition.

The condition is excellent to near mint throughout.

The blade measures 5-7/8 inches and the dagger is 10-3/4 inches long overall.

The leather scabbard is included and it is in excellent condition.

It measures 12-1/4 inches long overall and has a 7-3/4 inch blade. It is 13-5/8 inches long in the painted copper scabbard.  The scabbard fittings are brass.

The condition is generally very good to near excellent. The blade is in near excellent original condition.  The scabbard has moderate wear to the paint, with some bubbling of the paint present.

It measures 12-1/4 inches long overall and has a 7-3/4 inch blade. It is 13-5/8 inches long in the painted brass fitted scabbard.

The condition is slightly used, with some wear from everyday routine use. It is in overall very good serviceable original condition, with no significant flaws or defects. It has both metal collar insignia and metal fighter pilot wing.

The size is 17 inches shoulder to shoulder; 18 inches underarm underarm; 27 inches collar to waist; 16 inches underarm to sleeve end.  So it is a US size 36 or so.

The condition is slightly used, with some little nicks and dings from everyday routine use. It is in overall very good serviceable original condition. It has a round wire attachment pin. There is moderate tarnish from age.

It measures 45mm by 33mm (1-7/8 by 1-1/4 inches) in diameter.

The condition is near excellent. It has a round attachment nut with Yugoslavia marks. It is a solid die-struck medal.

It measures 29mm by 43mm. It is dated 29 September 1943, the date of the RSI Italian Armistice.

The condition is near excellent for all pieces.  Two infantry unit insignia are die struck brass, the artillery ordnance is embroidered with a gilt metal cross device, and the cavalry is embroidered with a bullion "7"

Each shoulder board measures 2-1/2 by 5-1/4 inches.

The original monument was rendered in 1924 as a memorial to the fallen soldiers during WWI (1915-1918) by Minerbi.  The plaque was rendered by C. Rivalta

The condition is near excellent.

This is a complex bullion and sequins insignia, with red silk floss on highlights on the aviation type eagle.  The sword is clutched in the talons of the eagle superimposed on oak leaves.

The condition is near good overall, with some wear to the bullion, as shown. The bullion is woven on green wool felt and it has about 95% of the original paper backing.

This is a black silkscreen printed lettering on wine red armband.

This is an embroidered patch, with white silk floss on green linen with a darker green silk floss border.

This patch was used to identify Italian POWs under US Army control during the war. This is an enameled brass device for attachment to a uniform. It has a spring pin closure. There are no maker marks apparent.

The condition is well-used, good to near very good. There is some slight oxidation to the brass from age and chips to the enamel as shown. The central star is separately applied..

There are a number of aluminum and red and yellow enamel on brass devices for attachment to a uniform. It has drilled holes for mounting. There is a RIPR. VIETATA raised mark (Reproduction Forbidden) on the back. It comes in the original glassine maker marked issue bag, marked BERTONI MILANO.

The condition is mostly unissued, near mint. There is some slight oxidation to the aluminum from age and tarnish to brass on some pieces.

This is a gilded brass device for attachment to a uniform cloak. It has three loops on each disk for mounting.

This is a  green, white and red baked enamel on gilded brass device. It features a separately applied fasces device. It has F.M. LORIOLI CASTELLI raised maker marks and has MOD. DEPOSITATO registered marks disallowing reproduction.

The condition is near excellent.

It measures 20mm by 15mm.

This is a white Bakelite device for attachment to a woman's uniform above the left breast. It has three wide flat prongs on the back for mounting. There is a RIPRODUZIONE VIETATA raised mark (Reproduction Prohibited) and CASTELLI-GEROSA S.A. maker marks on the back. The "M" is molded and gilt, the star is metal and separately applied. This is a white enamel on gilt metal device. It features a blossoming tree and "M" Mussolini initial. It is VENTRALLA ROMA raised maker marks and has registered marks disallowing reproduction.

This propaganda paper covers the time period from July 1941 through November 1941, It was printed in August 1942.

The condition is used with some wear and tear on the edges, and a couple of (repairable) long tears on the lower footer. It is still very good to near excellent.
