Adolf Hitler Mein Kampf Editions

This is an exceptional book, "liberated" from the personal library of Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring.  It has his large engraved book plate on inside of the front cover, and a caption in French that translates as "Rene Laurent, 2nd Armored Division of General Leclerc.  Personal library of the Reichsmarshal Hermann Goering, Berchtesgaden 5/4/1945"

The condition is near excellent throughout, with minor signs of routine use. The blue cloth cover board has the gold embossed eagle in near excellent condition. The back cover has a crease from a fold made long ago.

This book has the large Hermann Goering bookplate with St. George and the dragon and German mottos identifying it as from the library.  It is printed in brown ink on a 4 by 5 inch plate. This bookplate is very difficult to find.

This is an exceptional presentation volume, given to SS-Brigadeführer Fritz Schmedes on the occasion of his engagement by Dr. Otto Schmidt, the NSDAP Burgermeister of Bayreuth.  Schmedes was the former commander of the 4th SS-Polizei Division until he was relieved by Himmler for refusal to follow orders.  He was sent to the Waffen-SS in Slovakia as punishment, where he eventually became the commanding officer of the 36th Waffen-SS Division.

The condition is near excellent throughout, with light signs of routine use. The marbled off-white cover board and gold embossed black leather spine are in generally very good condition.

Accompanying this book are the original best wishes for the engagement in the name of Adolf Hitler and one from Dr. Joseph Goebbels.  Both of these cards are very difficult to find.

The dedication is to Fritz Schmedes, SS-Off and the presentation was from the Oberburgermeister (Dr. Schmidt) of the City of Bayreuth, presented on 14 May 1943. A photocopy of Schmedes is included.

There is the Köln city/state coat of arms in gilt on the cover. Karl Georg Schmidt served as the mayor of Köln from 1937 until his death in 1940. He signed the dedication page.
