It features Adolf Hitler in military uniform wearing WWI ICFC medal and wound badge, the gold eagle tie pin, and black leather belt with baldric strap. The condition is excellent throughout, as shown. This sign had one previous owner, a German woman who had it hanging in her newstand shop during the war and kept the sign all her life. It still has the original rough twine hanger on it. The wear is minimal, as can be seen in the close-up of the maker mark here. The content is basically the usual information shown on cigarettes, however there is a warning to beware of spies printed on the side of the package, as shown below:

The content is basically pushing the book, and an abbreviated list of the contents and scope of each volume of the set. The publisher's distributor information is at the bottom. No date is indicated. From the photograph, it would appear to be from the early 1930s. It measures about 12-1/2 by 19-3/4 inches. The condition is very good to near excellent with some minor yellowing from age (it is printed on brown paper, slightly thicker than newsprint). This is an original period 1943 dated Notice of Execution
poster broadside.
The German Railway Commandant is carrying out the execution of several named individuals of the French Maquis Resistance Fighters in Lille, France on 22 December, 1943. There is a long list of their crimes and acts of sabotage against the railway system, and other targets. The poster indicated the men were caught with weapons and explosives, and cites other proof of their guilt. Here is a close-up of the German part, and the French part. It measures about 32 by 48 inches. The condition is fair to near good with some fading, edge and corner wear from age. There is some significant wear and minor damage to the areas of the folds, with several repairs to the back side. It is printed on medium weight wartime paper, and has 6 creases from being folded neatly in sixteenths for mailing. |
